Last week, at a Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church in St. Louis, MO, delegates passed the Traditional Plan, which tightened the rules restricting inclusion of the LGBTQI community. We grieve with the LGBTQI community, feel the pain of a deeply divided global church, and acknowledge the hurt that this decision brings to so many of us, our partners, and our allies.
Just Neighbors wants to assure our greater Just Neighbors community of our commitment to LGBTQI individuals: Whether clients, staff, volunteers, board members or other stakeholders, Just Neighbors welcomes and seeks to serve all without regard to race, religion, ethnicity, ideology, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
We thank you for your support through the many challenging months we have already navigated and ask for your continuing support in the uncertain months to come. While the future of The United Methodist Church may be uncertain, Just Neighbors proudly affirms all God’s children and welcomes each of you through our open door.
