For over 20 years Just Neighbors has been fortunate to have the support of the community making it possible to provide immigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees. Giving to Just Neighbors makes it possible for immigrants and refugees to access legal services that create opportunities for them to access better jobs, education, and freedom from domestic violence.

If you are interested in supporting immigrants and refugees you can do so in a multitude of ways. From monthly giving to hosting a Just10 Friendraiser there are many ways you can support your neighbors. Click below for more information!

Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to our ability to achieve our mission of providing immigration legal services to the low-income community, while also forging new bonds between immigrants and the larger northern Virginia community in which they live. Just Neighbors entrusts volunteers with vital duties that include communicating with clients and potential clients, translation services and document preparation for clients, community outreach, and much more.

Depending on skills, experience, and availability, volunteers can help out in many different roles. Click below to learn about our various volunteer roles and opportunities.

Advocate

Just Neighbors seeks the involvement of both clients and members of the community to advocate for different immigration issues. Currently, some examples of hot topics in the world of immigration is opposing the administration’s decision to rescind DACA, pushing for drivers license for all regardless of immigration status, closing detention centers, and stopping the separation of detained children from their parents. There are many ways you can get involved in advocating for issues that you feel passionate about, from signing petitions to joining rallies and anything in-between. Follow our social media accounts or sign up for our advocacy listserv to stay informed of upcoming advocacy opportunities!

Why I Volunteer

"I am so grateful for the opportunity that Just Neighbors gives me to help struggling immigrants achieve their dreams.  When I help a domestic abuse victim obtain visas so that her children can join her here in Virginia, I know that their lives will be forever changed. When I prepare the paperwork for an asylee or refugee to obtain legal permanent residence, I can see him taking one more step toward his ultimate goal of U.S. citizenship.  After careers in service to the federal government and private industry, it is a joy to have real people as clients and be able to make a difference in their lives."
