Below is a breakdown of Just Neighbors' work in 2008:
- 780 cases for 589 different clients (compared to 593 cases for 488 clients in 2007); a 42% increase in case totals
- 244 domestic violence cases (compared to 93 in 2007); an increase of 162%
- 291 family unification cases (compared to 220 in 2007); an increase of 32%
- 56% of clients were between the ages of 24-44
Since 2005, 45% of our clients have come from Central America, 16% from South America, 21% from Africa, 16% from Asia, 1% from Europe, and 1% from North America. In 2008, Just Neighbors saw the highest percent increase of clients from Africa and Asia.
Just Neighbors began tracking the country of origin of our clients in 2005. Since then, we have served immigrants and refugees from 102 different countries, reflecting the diversity of Northern Virginia. We topped 100 countries in 2008. We served at least five clients in each of the countries that is in bold.
